How to Rebuild the Entire Front Suspension in your Car or Truck

  • Publicēšanas datums 12 apr 2019
  • Learn how to replace the ENTIRE front suspension of your car in this two episode series. First I will show you how to remove the wheel bearing, ball joints, control arms, tie rod, strut, and axle.
The ball joint and wheel bearing has to be pressed out of the knuckle and I have a bunch of tips and tricks to make that easy. The upper control arm ball joint and tie rod can get stuck in the knuckle so I show some tricks on how to easily remove that. The rest of the suspension parts are pretty simple to remove and replace.

Did you guys get notified by LVclip that the video was posted? Also when you watched the video, was there a screen that said "this video was flagged by the LVclip community and may be offensive" or something like that? Just wanted to check because I had issues last night which is why I had to postpone publishing the video. I hope it's all fixed and you guys learn a lot from the video! Stay tuned for the next video and then for a video that, well, covers a life changing event ;)
Also for those asking why I am wondering, here is what happened last night when I went to publish:

I’m offended by the fact that I only discovered your channel this year. Your LVclip channel is #1 for me. I can’t thank you enough. Totally inspired.
I went through some deep depression this year. Your videos renewed my zest for life. I’m eternally in your debt.
Sorry to get all deep! But you’re helping people in ways you might not even know.

I would be happy if ChrisFix could just show how to use jackstands on my Altima ! No idea where to put them. If I use the Jack then how do I put the stand also in the same notches? And if I lift the car by putting the jack somewhere else (freeing up the notches on the sides for the jackstands), then where exactly is that safe place for the jack?

Also be careful when sanding the wholes where bearings go in, generally the wholes are between 3 to 5 hundreds of a millimeter smaller than the bearing just so that the bearing goes in tight but not tight enough to prevent it from rotating. If you sand the inside it is very easy to take away those 3-5 hundreds. Best to use some brake cleaner and the back end of a sponge instead of sandpaper. It is just my advice. :D I have never done mechanical work on cars but I have experience with lathe and milling machines.

Very nice videos man, thx. One thing here in the video, you were trying to unscrew a PH screw with a PZ screwdriver. That barely works on new screws, for old ones is even worse.

Amazing video! All of the different parts in the wheel well and how they work together were somewhat of a mystery to me...until now! You do such a great job explaining as you are demonstrating. I really like that you work on vehicles that present real challenges someone may face, like the hub not pulling out initially, and how to overcome them. Great work! I really appreciate it 😁👍

  • Mr Haych
    Mr Haych Pirms 3 dienām

Great job, i replaced a rear wheel bearing on bmw. I had one issue which no one has covered on youtube. When i removed the hub, the casing of the bearing which covers the balls was stuck on the hub, so when i took the old bearing out and put the new one in, the hub wasn't going in all the way. After 1 whole day, i realsied that i needed to take the bearing cover off the hub. In this case it was too difficult so i took the casing off the new bearing and used the casing for the previous bearing.

19:20 ...the hacksaw on the screw was a good idea. Before doing that, I would have hit the screws with some penetrant then a small wire brush in hopes to seat that bit more into the void.
I don’t know any other Canadians who hate slotted screws more than I do, haha.
    Keep up the great work.

      Kaosu Uzu Pirms 12 dienām

If it's starting up but just taking a lot of turns then more than likely your car battery is dying either from lack of charge or just being bad. If you can, get it to a parts store (advanceautoparts, Autozone, etc) and bring it inside. They'll test it and charge it for you completely for free. If you do need a new battery they have some decent ones at the store you'll go to until you can afford a completely brand new battery.
